Judge Rejects OT Case Settlement That Gives Attys 78%

Law360, New York (December 2, 2013, 8:25 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday refused to sign off on a settlement resolving wage-and-hour claims against portable toilet rental provider United Site Services of California Inc. that awarded the plaintiffs' attorneys 78 percent of the total settlement fund.  

U.S. District Judge Lucy H. Koh denied preliminary approval to the deal, citing among her concerns the award of fees and costs to the attorney for the plaintiffs in the putative Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage law class action.
