Texas Physical Therapy Clinics Reach $4.3M FCA Deal

Law360, New York (December 2, 2013, 3:50 PM EST) -- A Houston-area network of lymphatic disease clinics has settled allegations of submitting fraudulent Medicare bills for unauthorized treatments over a six-year period, paying $4.3 million to close a University of Texas professor's False Claims Act suit, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Monday.

Lymphedema & Wound Care Institute of Texas Inc. and its affiliates entered a settlement on Nov. 22 to resolve accusations that physical therapy treatments it provided to Medicare beneficiaries were performed by unqualified massage therapists.
