Law360, New York (December 2, 2013, 6:25 PM EST) -- The New Jersey Assembly's deputy speaker last week introduced a bill to help the construction industry secure insurance for property damage and injuries from faulty work, citing disagreements among courts on whether liability policies covers such losses.

Assemblyman Gary Schaer, a Democrat and chair of the Assembly's Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, on Nov. 25 put forward a bill that would require insurers to define "occurrence," or accident, in commercial liability policies taken out by "construction professionals" so that it includes coverage for faulty workmanship. Under the...
