Ex-Chiefs Launch 1st Concussion Suit Against NFL Team

Law360, New York (December 4, 2013, 6:20 PM EST) -- Five former Kansas City Chiefs players claimed in a lawsuit Tuesday that the team had failed to warn them about the health risks posed by concussions — the first time NFL retirees have targeted a team, rather than the league, over head injuries.

The NFL reached a $765 million settlement agreement in August in multidistrict litigation against the league over its handling of concussions. The players claimed the league knew or should have known that head injuries suffered during play could lead to long-term health problems...
