Icahn Again Ups Nuance Stake, Stoking Sale Speculation

Law360, New York (December 5, 2013, 11:14 AM EST) -- Carl Icahn again lifted his stake in Nuance Communications Inc. to give him nearly 19 percent of the voice-recognition software maker's shares, he said in a late Wednesday filing, reigniting speculation that the activist could thrust the company into a sale.

Since disclosing a 9.3 percent stake in April, the billionaire has steadily piled onto his Nuance holding. The latest purchases, made since Sept. 30, added 6.5 million shares to bring Icahn's total cache to 58.9 million — an 18.72 percent interest worth more than $1 billion....
