Northwest Granted Six More Months For Reorganization

Law360, New York (January 10, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal bankruptcy judge granted number-four U.S. carrier Northwest Airlines Corp. six more months of protection from creditors Tuesday while it prepares its reorganization plan.

Northwest filed for bankruptcy protection in September 2005 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. District Judge Allan Gropper awarded the extension until July 13.

The company’s bankruptcy mirrored that of number three carrier Delta Airlines Inc., which filed Chapter 11 protection 30 minutes earlier.
