Fed. Circ. Backs Win For Dell, HP In Power Patent Row

Law360, Los Angeles (December 12, 2013, 7:36 PM EST) -- A Federal Circuit panel on Thursday affirmed a lower court’s noninfringement judgment in an Acacia Research Corp. unit’s suit against Dell Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co. and other electronics giants over a patent relating to computer power management.

In a one-paragraph per curiam opinion, the panel ruled that the district court had properly constructed a relevant phrase during the case’s Markman hearing, and that both parties had stipulated that agreeing with the construction would lead to a noninfringement finding.
