CBS Settles Patent Suit Over Online Video Services

Law360, Los Angeles (December 12, 2013, 10:12 PM EST) -- CBS Interactive Inc. agreed Tuesday to settle claims it infringed patents for cataloging and organizing digital multimedia with the episodes and clips streaming on its website, according to a motion filed in Delaware federal court.

The media company filed a joint motion with patent holder Preservation Technologies LLC saying the two parties had reached an agreement, though the terms of that agreement were not immediately disclosed.

The motion ends CBS’ role in Preservation Technologies’ campaign against online media content it contended infringed several patents that manage and distribute digital multimedia across multiple devices.
