SEC Bars Ex-Daily News Columnist Over Insider Trading Plot

Law360, New York (December 13, 2013, 12:50 PM EST) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has barred former New York Daily News columnist Peter Siris from the securities industry over an alleged insider trading scheme involving Chinese reverse merger companies, according to a Thursday ruling.

Three of the SEC's five commissioners denied Siris' January 2013 appeal of an earlier administrative order barring him from associating with entities in the securities industry and from participating in penny stock offerings. The other two commissioners did not participate in the case, according to the ruling.
