SpaceX, Not Bezos, Awarded Kennedy Center Launchpad

Law360, Los Angeles (December 13, 2013, 9:24 PM EST) -- NASA said Friday that it awarded the lease on a launchpad at the Kennedy Space Center to Space Exploration Technologies Corp., after the U.S. Government Accountability Office denied a protest by Inc. founder Jeff Bezos.

The lease bid's winner, which goes by the name SpaceX, beat out Bezos' space startup Blue Origin LLC for the five-year launchpad contract, which will enable SpaceX to launch its own private commercial missions into space.
