FedEx Should Pay $50M For Illegally Shipped Cigs, NYC Says

Law360, New York (January 2, 2014, 3:08 PM EST) -- New York City hit Federal Express Corp. Monday with a federal suit demanding more than $50 million in damages on claims that the shipping giant knowingly delivered tons of unstamped cigarettes from a Long Island Indian reservation to city customers and showed "utter disregard" for a deal not to make such deliveries.

The complaint, one of the final legal salvos of the outgoing Bloomberg administration, said FedEx knowingly shipped thousands of cartons of cigarettes lacking tax stamps to residential customers by partnering with a trafficking enterprise...
