Former Texas County Judge Gets 4 Years In Corruption Case

Law360, Houston (January 3, 2014, 7:02 PM EST) -- A former West Texas county judge convicted on charges that he took bribes in exchange for efforts to steer a $40 million bond refinancing contract to Bear Stearns Cos. Inc. was slapped with a four-year federal prison sentence Friday.

Former El Paso County Judge Anthony Cobos, who pled guilty last year to a single count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and deprivation of honest services, was sentenced to 48 months in prison and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine by U.S. District Judge Frank Montalvo....
