Ocean Spray Defends 'No Added Sugar' Labels In Class Action

Law360, Los Angeles (January 6, 2014, 7:44 PM EST) -- Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc. asked a California federal judge Friday to can a proposed class action accusing the company of unlawfully labeling its sugar-free juices, saying the plaintiff testified that she wasn't misled into believing the drinks were also low in calories.

In a motion for partial summary judgment, Ocean Spray accused Noelle Major of admitting during deposition that she never believed the Ocean Spray 100% Juice products she bought were reduced-calorie products and that she knew the "no added sugar" labeling didn't include fruit sugars....
