Same-Sex Couples Sue For Marriage In Ariz.

Law360, Los Angeles (January 6, 2014, 10:48 PM EST) -- Four same-sex couples in Arizona filed a putative class action Monday alleging the state’s voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional, the first such suit challenging Arizona’s marriage law.

The putative class asks the court to follow the reasoning applied in U.S. v. Windsor, the June decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that struck down a portion of the Defense of Marriage Act as unconstitutional.
