Wash. DOT Says It Needs $170M To Finish Seattle Bridge

Law360, New York (January 9, 2014, 1:57 PM EST) -- The Washington Department of Transportation said Wednesday that it had a cost overrun in replacing the Highway 520 bridge and will need $170 million more in order to complete the project.

The DOT said that blueprint mistakes resulted in cracked pontoons and replacing them cost the state $200 million and depleted reserve funds for the project. It has asked the legislature to raise the total project cap from $2.72 billion to $2.89 billion.
