AmEx Appeals $7.2B Interchange Fee Settlement

Law360, New York (January 9, 2014, 3:55 PM EST) -- American Express Co. indicated Wednesday that it would appeal the approval of a $7.25 billion interchange fee antitrust settlement between merchants and Visa Inc. and MasterCard Inc., worrying it would be included in the agreement's broad class definition.

AmEx — along with its travel services, publishing and other units — filed a notice of appeal, joining a slew of merchants and other industry players who have asked the Second Circuit to review the approval of the controversial deal.
