Fla. Supreme Court Disbars 'Foreclosure King'

Law360, Miami (January 9, 2014, 7:54 PM EST) -- The Florida Supreme Court on Tuesday disbarred attorney David J. Stern, the once-dubbed “foreclosure king” of Florida, whose firm processed thousands of foreclosure cases before its collapse in 2011.

In a short docket order, the state's high court adopted the recommendation of a court-appointed referee who said Stern should be disbarred for taking on a huge caseload and failing to properly supervise staffers who allegedly mishandled or filed fraudulent court documents.

The court also assessed $49,125 in costs. The disbarment is effective Feb. 6.
