Judge Likely To Toss Passengers' Suit Over MIA Fuel Fire

Law360, Miami (January 16, 2014, 4:00 PM EST) -- A Florida federal judge indicated Thursday that she would dismiss a putative class suit seeking economic damages from fuel management company Allied Aviation LLC by passengers stranded after a March 2011 fuel fire at Miami International Airport.

U.S. District Judge Cecilia Altonaga told plaintiffs' counsel that she was not swayed by their arguments that the fuel management company owed the passengers any duty, and she expressed concern that letting the case proceed would open the floodgates for litigation from passengers stranded by mechanical problems who suffered...
