Vioxx Deal May Become Model For Future Agreements

Law360 (March 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- If Merck & Co.'s $4.85 billion agreement over painkiller Vioxx gains approval despite criticism over some facets of the deal, many experts believe the deal may be the new model for settling future mass torts litigation.

Attorneys involved in the product liability cases are expected back in court on Tuesday, when claims administrator Brown & Greer is expected to provide a status update on the registration process for the deal.
