Building Owner Says Firm Must Pay If AIG Exits Injury Case

Law360, New York (January 21, 2014, 1:32 PM EST) -- The owner of an office building in New York City’s Garment District launched a two-pronged lawsuit on Friday against its former lawyers at Smith Mazure Director Wilkins Young & Yagerman PC and an American International Group Inc. unit over coverage of a demolition worker’s $6 million personal injury suit.

498 Seventh LLC is demanding protection against the worker's suit under a $50 million American International Specialty Lines Insurance Co. excess policy or, failing that, damages from Smith Mazure for allegedly mishandling the insurance claim.
