Google Infringed SimpleAir Messaging Patent, Jury Finds

Law360, New York (January 21, 2014, 7:33 PM EST) -- Google Inc. infringed a network messaging and data transmission patent owned by SimpleAir Inc. through messaging services available on Android smartphones and tablets, a jury concluded Saturday following a weeklong trial in Texas federal court.

Jurors also ruled that the search giant failed to produce evidence that the patent was invalid, but they couldn't reach a unanimous agreement on how much money Google owed Texas-based SimpleAir, a patent-holding company, for its alleged offenses — a question that would be settled during separate proceedings.
