Ross Not Responsible For Janitors' Low Wages, Co. Says

Law360, San Francisco (January 21, 2014, 4:05 PM EST) -- Ross Stores Inc. urged a California federal judge Tuesday to toss allegations that it should have known a contractor was underpaying janitors who clean the clothing retailer's stores, arguing that it wasn't a party to the contracts in the janitors' proposed class action.

Ross' attorney told U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup that it should be excused from the janitors' suit targeting the company and USM Inc., which secures janitorial services for Ross stores, because it had nothing to do with USM's agreements with the subcontractors...
