Lockheed Hiked F-35 Job Claims To Nab Support, Report Says
By Erica Teichert (January 22, 2014, 6:25 PM EST) -- Lockheed Martin Corp.'s claims that it has created 125,000 jobs in 46 states as part of its F-35 Lightning joint strike fighter program came under fire Wednesday as the Center for International Policy said the numbers are "greatly exaggerated" in order to bolster congressional support.
Although Lockheed has touted itself as the "single largest job creator" in the U.S. Department of Defense program, the report's author William Hartung contended that Lockheed's program has only created 50,000 to 60,000 total jobs, less than half the number claimed by the defense contractor.
