Ralphs Hit With Class Action Over Decaf Coffee

Law360, Los Angeles (January 27, 2014, 8:02 PM EST) -- A California consumer on Wednesday hit Ralphs Grocery Co. with a putative class action over its brand of decaffeinated coffee, alleging the food giant misled consumers because the coffee had small amounts of caffeine, even though the label said "without caffeine."

Plaintiff Raffy Kopallian claims he bought Ralphs’ decaf brand coffee last January but later read small print on the back of the can that said the coffee was 99.7 percent caffeine free.
