DOD Still Plagued By Budget Uncertainty, Officials Say

Law360, Washington (January 28, 2014, 2:22 PM EST) -- U.S. Department of Defense officials warned lawmakers Tuesday that the agency continues to feel the pressure of sequestration and budget uncertainty despite the recently passed two-year funding bill, claiming long-term acquisition or rebalancing plans can’t be made without more stability.

Although the 2014 appropriations bill included $572 billion for defense spending, Frank Kendall, the undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, told the House Armed Services Committee that the figure was $50 billion below DOD's budget request and will force it to make bigger cuts...
