Viacom Pushes To Get Anti-Tobacco Ads On MTV, BET

Law360, New York (January 28, 2014, 5:07 PM EST) -- Viacom Inc. argued Monday that, as part of their recent accord with the U.S. government, tobacco companies should spring for anti-tobacco advertisements on MTV, BET and other Viacom-owned stations popular with young and black people.

Philip Morris USA Inc., R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Lorillard Tobacco Co. entered an agreement with the government on Jan. 10 outlining how they will disseminate statements that admit to their deceiving the public about cigarettes' addictiveness and health effects.
