EU Antitrust Chief Voices Hope For Damages Proposal

Law360, New York (January 28, 2014, 4:24 PM EST) -- After European lawmakers advanced a proposal to boost private cartel litigation, Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia expressed hope Tuesday that the measure could make it through during the current legislative term.

The European Parliament committee charged with reviewing the European Commission's proposed directive cleared its report on the measure Monday, paving the way for the full Legislature to consider a series of reforms designed to make it easier for cartel victims to recover damages in court.
