US Says Convicted NASA Contractor Could Be A Flight Risk

Law360, Washington (January 29, 2014, 4:34 PM EST) -- The federal government pushed a Maryland federal judge on Monday not to release a former NASA contractor while he appeals his conviction on charges that he provided satellite technology to Iran, money laundering and violating a trade act, claiming he could be a flight risk.

Although the government agreed that Nadar Modanlo doesn't pose a danger to the community, federal attorneys are concerned he may flee the country while awaiting appeal unless he begins serving his 96-month sentence for violating the Iran Trade Embargo Act, money...
