Crosby Publicity Rights Not Owed To 1st Wife, Court Rules

Law360, Los Angeles (January 29, 2014, 9:56 PM EST) -- A California appeals court on Wednesday reversed a trial court’s ruling that gave 20th century entertainer Bing Crosby’s first wife a community property interest in the singer’s right of publicity, holding that a prior settlement with the Wilma Wyatt Crosby Trust bars that conclusion.

Crosby’s second wife, Kathryn Crosby, appealed the lower court’s decision granting Wilma’s estate’s petition for an order stating that Wilma had a community property interest in Bing’s right to publicity, and that Wilma’s share of this interest passed to her heirs. The...
