Qatar Pays $100M For NYC Townhouse For Future Consulate

Law360, New York (January 30, 2014, 1:27 PM EST) -- The state of Qatar has agreed to purchase a townhouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan for approximately $100 million from a prominent art-dealing family, a representative of the Qatar General Consulate in New York confirmed Thursday.

Qatar has signed a contract to buy the townhouse at 19 E. 64th St., a 20,500-square-foot property owned by the Wildenstein family, and plans to use the space as its New York consulate.
