S. Korea Watchdog Fines Google For Street View Snooping

Law360, New York (January 31, 2014, 7:34 PM EST) -- A South Korean privacy watchdog reportedly penalized Google Inc. 210 million Korean won ($196,000) on Tuesday after determining that the company unlawfully harvested private information from unsecured wireless Internet networks while its Street View cars mapped the country.

The Korea Communications Commission became the latest government agency to conclude that Google acted unlawfully when it intercepted and stored personal data that was transmitted via Wi-Fi within range of vehicles scouring the terrain with cameras to build Street View, according to an article in the Korea Herald....
