America's Cup Rival Sues Champ For Unfair Scheming

Law360, New York (March 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- America's Cup sailing team Team New Zealand Ltd. has launched a lawsuit alleging its rival Team Alinghi violated antitrust law as part of a scheme to successfully defend the championship.

Team New Zealand filed the complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleging Societe Nautique de Geneve, its affiliate Alinghi and team owner Ernesto Bertarelli conspired to create an unfair advantage in the race and monopolized its lucrative sponsorship market in violation of the Sherman Act.
