Ex-DOD Official Sentenced For Aircraft Bribery Scheme

Law360, Washington (January 31, 2014, 7:10 PM EST) -- A Utah federal judge sentenced a former U.S. Department of Defense procurement official involved in an alleged bribery and fraud scheme with foreign military aircraft purchases to 24 months in prison, the Department of Justice said Wednesday.

Former Air Force program manager Jose Mendez allegedly received more than $185,000 in bribes from 2008 to August 2011 and lined up future payments in exchange for nonpublic information and favorable treatment in the Air Force procurement process.
