Siemens Counsel Indicted In Federal Fraud Scheme

Law360, New York (January 23, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A grand jury has indicted a U.S. subsidiary of German electronics company Siemens AG and two of its employees—including a lawyer—in a fraudulent scheme to land a $49 million contract.

Siemens Medical Solutions USA Inc., one of its in-house lawyers and a locally based district manager were charged with devising a sham joint venture with a minority contractor, Faust Villazan, to facilitate a $49 million radiology contract between Siemens and John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in Chicago.
