Juice Maker Pumps Up Price With False 'Raw' Label, Suit Says

Law360, Chicago (February 6, 2014, 12:49 PM EST) -- Suja Life LLC was hit with a proposed class action on Wednesday alleging the company dupes consumers into paying steep prices for its juice products by labeling them as "raw" even though they are subjected to processing that strips the drinks of much of their nutrients.

The San Diego-based company's fruit and vegetable juices undergo "high-pressure processing," or HPP, a treatment that has similar effects as traditional pasteurization, making the company's "raw" labels and advertising false and misleading, according to a complaint filed by Rebecca Heikkila...
