Gov't Scales Back Work For Snowden Background-Check Co.

Law360, New York (February 7, 2014, 2:23 PM EST) -- The federal government on Thursday said it will no longer use contractors to conduct the final steps of background checks, which will decrease its reliance on the embattled company that performed the review on National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.

Office of Personnel Management Director Katherine Archuleta said the agency’s background investigations quality review process will be completely federalized by Feb. 24, in order to prevent any contractor from performing the final review of its own work.
