9th Circ. Urged To Revive Black Eyed Peas Copyright Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (February 7, 2014, 6:55 PM EST) -- A songwriter on Friday urged the Ninth Circuit to revive his copyright suit alleging hip-hop group the Black Eyed Peas stole the hook of their hit “I Gotta Feeling” from one of his compositions, saying evidence shows his song was written first.

During oral arguments in Pasadena, Calif., Dean A. Dickie of Miller Canfield PLC, counsel for songwriter Bryan Pringle, told a three-judge panel that a California district court erred in granting summary judgment to the group.
