House Restores Military Pensions, Ups Medicare Doc-Fix Pay

Law360, Washington (February 11, 2014, 6:43 PM EST) -- The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a bill restoring $6.2 billion in military pension cuts included in an earlier bipartisan budget agreement, a measure that also puts in place a fund to maintain “doc fix” payment levels under the controversial Medicare sustainable growth rate formula.

The bill, which blocks a proposed cut to cost-of-living adjustments, or COLA, for certain military retirees from going into effect, passed the House 326-90, above the two-thirds threshold it needed after being considered under suspension of House rules, which...
