AmEx Can't Join Private, Gov't Antitrust Cases

Law360, New York (February 11, 2014, 7:54 PM EST) -- In light of a settlement resolving two putative antitrust class actions challenging American Express Co.'s merchant discount rules, a New York federal judge on Tuesday denied a bid from the credit card giant to join the private actions with a related U.S. government complaint, noting the effort was likely to fail anyway.
