TufAmerica Puts Frank Ocean Song In Copyright Crosshairs

Law360, New York (February 12, 2014, 4:40 PM EST) -- Litigious record label TufAmerica Inc. lodged its latest infringement lawsuit on Monday, claiming Frank Ocean's "Super Rich Kids" used an unauthorized sample of Mary J. Blige's 1992 hit single "Real Love.”

TufAmerica — which has sued Jay-Z and the Beastie Boys in recent months over similar sampling allegations — filed the case against Ocean's label, Universal Music Group, and parent company Vivendi SA, while naming several other unrelated tracks that UMG improperly used or licensed.
