Rutgers, Former Big East Settle On $11.5M Exit Fee

Law360, New York (February 12, 2014, 7:09 PM EST) -- Rutgers University and the former Big East Conference on Wednesday announced a settlement of contract litigation that includes the school paying a negotiated exit fee of $11.5 million over its move to the Big Ten Conference.

Touting the deal, Rutgers said the collegiate sports organization, now dubbed the American Athletic Conference, had sought a $15 million exit fee. The school added that it's expecting revenue from its move to the Big Ten to approach $200 million during the next 12 years.
