NYC Mayor Slams Bloomberg For Leaving Union Deals Open

Law360, New York (February 12, 2014, 6:24 PM EST) -- New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio ripped the Bloomberg administration Wednesday for leaving an “unprecedented” 152 union labor contracts unresolved, vowed to cut into the multibillion-dollar backlog and said he would restore funding to a $1 billion retiree health benefit trust depleted by the previous mayor as part of the city's 2015 budget.

The contracts will cost as much as $6 billion by some estimates, depending on whether back pay is included for unions that have gone five years or more without a new deal....
