Delta Cuts Jobs But Offers Techies $14M To Hang On

Law360, New York (January 24, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Hoping to emerge from bankruptcy by 2007, embattled Delta Air Lines Inc. announced its intention to cut up to 1,000 maintenance positions while simultaneously seeking to pass an incentive package that will convince some of its critical technology employees to stay.

The job cuts at the country’s number-three carrier were part of the expected 7,000 to 9,000 reductions that the airline had warned it would make throughout the next year as part of its reorganization plan, according to Delta spokeswoman Chris Kelly.
