Samsung Rebuts Apple's Request For $15.7M In Atty Fees

Law360, Los Angeles (February 18, 2014, 6:22 PM EST) -- Samsung Electronics Corp. told a California federal judge Thursday that it doesn't owe Apple Inc. $15.7 million in attorneys' fees following Apple's $930 million victory in patent infringement and damages trials over smartphone technology because Apple's dilution claim isn't “exceptional” under the Lanham Act.

Opposing Apple's December motion for attorneys' fees, Samsung argued that it didn't confuse or deceive smartphone and tablet consumers, as Apple has repeatedly admitted, and that Apple hasn't shown that Samsung pursued groundless defenses.
