Judge OKs Walgreen's $24M Settlement Of Bias Case

Law360, New York (March 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge gave final approval Tuesday to a $24 million settlement between Walgreen Co. and its black employees, ending a discrimination case that affected thousands of the pharmacy chain's workers.

The decree, one of the largest monetary settlements in a race bias lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, orders Walgreen to distribute the $24 million among the class members and to improve its promotion and store assignment practices.
