Patent-Holding Co. Illegally Holding Up Digital TV: AAI

Law360, New York (March 26, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The American Antitrust Institute has called on the U.S. Federal Trade Commission to investigate a patent-holding company it alleges is holding up next year's planned conversion to digital television by seeking millions of dollars in royalty fees from TV networks and cable companies.

In a petition filed Wednesday, the antitrust think tank claimed that Rembrandt Technologies LP is engaged in anti-competitive behavior that will drive up the cost of digital television for consumers.
