Indian Tribe Embezzler Asks To Be Spared From Prison Time

Law360, New York (February 19, 2014, 9:45 PM EST) -- A former employee of the Indian tribe that owns Foxwoods Resort Casino asked a Connecticut federal judge Wednesday to spare him prison time when he is sentenced for allegedly using false timekeeping records to steal more than $177,000 from the tribe in 2007.

Counsel for Steven Thomas, who pled guilty to one criminal charge in October, claimed that he has “effected a radical transformation of his life” after allegedly embezzling money as assistant director of the Office of Natural Resources of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation....
