NY Med Co. To Pay $16M To Settle FCA Billing Claims

Law360, New York (February 24, 2014, 5:04 PM EST) -- A New York-based medical imaging company will pay $15.5 million to settle former employees' False Claims Act claims that it fraudulently billed Medicare and Medicaid for tests that weren't performed or were unnecessary, according to documents filed Monday in New Jersey federal court.

According to a notice filed Monday, Doshi Diagnostic Imaging Services PC will pony up roughly $15.5 million to settle a qui tam action brought by three former Doshi employees who said they witnessed fraudulent billing practices, including double billing and billing for services that were never performed, in violation of New York and New Jersey's False Claims Acts....
