Catholic Health East Is Exempt From ERISA, Judge Told

Law360, Philadelphia (March 25, 2014, 6:19 PM EDT) -- Catholic Health East's strong ties to the Roman Catholic Church exempt it from the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and warrant dismissal of a putative class action alleging that the health care system underfunded its pension plan by more than $438 million, a Pennsylvania federal judge heard Tuesday.
