RPX Fights Demand For Apple, Sidley Docs In AIA Intrigue

Law360, San Francisco (February 26, 2014, 8:52 PM EST) -- Patent aggregator RPX Corp. fought back Wednesday against subpoena demands by VirnetX Inc., which is hoping to prove RPX is doing the bidding of Microsoft Corp., Apple Inc. and Apple’s law firm Sidley Austin LLP in challenging patents before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

RPX may have filed petitions with the USPTO questioning the validity of four patents VirnetX asserted against Apple and Microsoft in Texas federal court, but that doesn't mean it should be subject to VirnetX's broad subpoenas, the aggregator argued in its motion...
